Far East Cable's 40th Anniversary Hard-hitting Presentation Vol.1 | World Ships, Chinese Cables!

When the global shipping giants dock at major ports, the crew no longer need to start the roaring diesel generators - black cables connecting to the land are silently delivering clean electricity to every corner of the ten-thousand-ton vessels. This technology, known as the "shore power system", may seem like just a small step in port upgrades, but behind it lies a competition that could rewrite the global marine economic landscape.

China's shipbuilding industry has remained the world's largest for 15 consecutive years, with its completed shipbuilding volume accounting for over half of the global total in 2024. In the niche field of port shore power systems, the domestic production rate has soared from less than 10% a decade ago to over 70%. The medium-voltage composite optical fiber shore power cable independently developed by Far East has been successfully applied in over 30 port projects both at home and abroad.

As China's marine economy surpassed the 10 trillion yuan mark, ports have risen from logistics hubs to the core battlegrounds of zero-carbon transformation. With the countdown to the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) new carbon emission regulations, over 2,000 ports worldwide have launched a green revolution. Far East Shore Power Cables, with its dual engine of "technology + scenarios", has left a hard-hitting mark in benchmark projects such as Tianjin Port (Asia's largest cruise home port) and Shanghai Port International Passenger Terminal (the world's first LNG-powered cruise ship shore power support).

Traditional cables have long been plagued by problems such as large outer diameter, heavy weight, and sheath cracking in the harsh environment of ports with high salt and humidity and frequent winding. Overseas giants once asserted that "China would not be able to break through shore power cable technology within ten years." Far East was the first to break the monopoly with authoritative certifications from five major classification societies: CCS, ABS, KR, BV, and DNV. In the Haoyang Port project of Zhongtian Steel, Far East cables passed the strict acceptance test and have been stably operating for over five years. In the shore power system of Chongqing Chaotianmen No. 5 Wharf, Far East cables fully demonstrated their advantages in weather resistance, water resistance, tensile strength, and torsional resistance, contributing to it becoming a benchmark project for green ports in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

When the latest generation of green-powered cargo ships were launched, the global marine economy entered the "Chinese era". Over 30 ports around the world fell silent due to the Far East shore power cables, and 4.3 million tons of carbon emissions were "sealed" by it. On the meridians and parallels of China's marine economy, a group of Far East pulses belonging to hard-core technology are beating.
