Recently, exciting news came from the research site of the "Artificial Sun" on Hefei Science Island – the Dewar base of the Compact Fusion Energy Experimental Device (BEST) was precisely positioned, marking a key step for China toward the goal of "lighting the first lamp with nuclear fusion energy by 2030". In the core supply chain of this national strategic project, Far East Smarter Energy Co., Ltd. ("Far East Energy", stock code: 600869) stands out prominently: it not only successfully won the bid for the nuclear cable project of the BEST device, but also, relying on decades of technological accumulation, has continuously built the "nerves and blood vessels" for China's energy revolution – from the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) to the "Hualong One" nuclear power project.

Nuclear fusion power is one of the ultimate energy sources pursued by humanity. On Hefei Science Island in Anhui Province, three nuclear fusion devices are under construction and operation, making it the "strongest laboratory" for fusion research in China. How far is China from realizing the "Artificial Sun"? The answer lies in this "strongest laboratory".

China's "Controlled Fusion Team" includes: the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST), the Compact Fusion Energy Experimental Device (BEST), and the Comprehensive Research Facility for Fusion Reactor Core Key Systems (CRAFT).

During the National Day holiday, the Dewar base of the Compact Fusion Energy Experimental Device (BEST) was precisely positioned in Hefei, marking the device's entry into the full assembly stage. BEST uses a stronger magnetic field to compress the fusion space, planning to achieve a nuclear fusion power generation demonstration by 2030 with the goal of "lighting the first lamp with fusion energy". At the same time, the toroidal field magnet coil case of the Comprehensive Research Facility for Fusion Reactor Core Key Systems (CRAFT) was officially delivered.

Encouragingly, Far East has once again successfully won the bid for the Compact Fusion Energy Experimental Device (BEST) project. Far East's "pursuit of the sun" has taken another step closer to the dream.

As a core component of controlled fusion devices, special cables must operate stably under extreme environments of -269°C low temperature and 2 million Gray radiation, directly determining the safety and reliability of the device. Far East Cable has long been deeply involved: its products have been successfully applied to China's first full superconducting tokamak device EAST ("China's Little Sun"), and it has joined hands with research institutions such as Hefei University of Technology to tackle key technologies of superconducting tapes and fusion-specific cables.

Guarding "Hualong One" for a Decade

Beyond cutting-edge fusion, Far East is also a core supplier for China's homegrown third-generation nuclear power "Hualong One". 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the groundbreaking of the world's first Hualong One reactor. Unit 5 of Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant has operated safely for 1,000 consecutive days, supplying over 37 billion kWh of electricity, and special cables from Anhui Cable (Far East subsidiary) have silently guarded the unit for 3,650 days. Back in 2015, Far East's "Class K1 Cables for Harsh Environments of Hualong One" passed the appraisal of CNNC, becoming the only domestic product meeting the requirements of both domestic and overseas first Hualong One reactors. Its key technical indicators meet the US IEEE383 standard, winning multiple honors including the "CNNC Science and Technology Award". As an "invisible guardian" in the Hualong One nuclear energy system, Far East has broken through international technical barriers, filled domestic gaps, injected core momentum into national energy transformation, opened a new landscape for its own development, and demonstrated the global competitiveness of China's intelligent manufacturing.

In addition, Far East has successfully completed nuclear power projects including Chashma Nuclear Power Plant in Pakistan, Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant, Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, Hainan Changjiang, Fujian Fuqing, and Jiangsu Tianwan.

Being the "Invisible Guardian" for Nuclear Power Going Global

Currently, the global energy revolution is accelerating: the International Energy Agency predicts that the global nuclear fusion market will reach $496.55 billion by 2030; China's annual nuclear power investment exceeds 100 billion yuan, with new technologies such as fourth-generation nuclear power and small modular reactors (SMR) continuously landing.

From the "sun-chasing dream" of nuclear fusion to the "global layout" of nuclear power, Far East has witnessed the transformation of China's energy equipment from "independent control" to "global leadership" through the "hardcore evolution" of a single special cable. In this revolution concerning the future of human energy, this "champion enterprise" in a segmented field is building a solid foundation for China's energy security with invisible and solid strength, and contributing a "China's intelligent manufacturing" solution to global energy transformation.
