Recently, exciting news has come from the research and development site of the "Artificial Sun" on Hefei Science Island — the Dewar base of the Compact Fusion Energy Experimental Device (BEST) has been accurately positioned, marking a crucial step for China toward the goal of "lighting the first lamp with nuclear fusion energy by 2030". In the core supply chain of this major national project, Far East Smarter Energy Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Far East Energy", stock code: 600869) stands out prominently: it has not only successfully won the bid for the nuclear cable project of the BEST device, but also relied on decades of technological accumulation to continuously build the "nerves and blood vessels" for China's energy revolution, from the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) to the "Hualong One" nuclear power project.

Nuclear fusion power generation is one of the ultimate energy sources pursued by humanity. On Hefei Science Island in Anhui Province, three nuclear fusion devices are under construction and operation, known as the "strongest laboratory" for fusion research in China. How far is China from realizing the "Artificial Sun"? The answer lies in this "strongest laboratory".

China's "Controlled Fusion Team" includes: the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST), the Compact Fusion Energy Experimental Device (BEST), and the Comprehensive Research Facility for Fusion Reactor Core Key Systems (CRAFT).

During the National Day holiday, the Dewar base of the Compact Fusion Energy Experimental Device (BEST) was accurately positioned in Hefei, marking that the device has entered the full assembly stage. BEST uses a stronger magnetic field to compress the fusion space, and plans to realize a nuclear fusion power generation demonstration by 2030 with the goal of "lighting the first lamp with nuclear fusion energy". At the same time, the toroidal field magnet coil case of the Comprehensive Research Facility for Fusion Reactor Core Key Systems (CRAFT) was officially delivered.

Encouragingly, Far East has successfully won the bid for the Compact Fusion Energy Experimental Device (BEST) project once again. Far East's "pursuit of the sun" has taken another step closer to the dream.

As a core component of controlled fusion devices, special cables must operate stably under extreme environments of -269°C low temperature and 2 million Gray radiation, which directly determines the safety and reliability of the device. Far East Cable has long been deeply involved: its products have been successfully applied to China's first full superconducting tokamak device EAST ("China's Little Sun"), and it has joined hands with research institutions such as Hefei University of Technology to tackle key technologies of superconducting tapes and fusion-specific cables.

Guarding "Hualong One" for a Decade

In addition to its efforts in the cutting-edge fusion field, Far East is also a core supplier of China's self-developed third-generation nuclear power "Hualong One". 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the groundbreaking of the world's first "Hualong One" reactor. Unit 5 of Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant has operated safely for 1,000 consecutive days, supplying more than 37 billion kWh of electricity, and the special cables of Anhui Cable have silently guarded the unit for 3,650 days. Looking back to 2015, Far East's "Class K1 Cables for Harsh Environments of Hualong One" passed the appraisal of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), becoming the only domestic product that meets the requirements of both domestic and overseas first "Hualong One" reactors. Its key technical indicators meet the American IEEE383 standard, and it has won many honors such as the "CNNC Science and Technology Award". As an "invisible guardian" in the "Hualong One" nuclear energy system, Far East has successfully broken through international technical barriers, filled domestic gaps, injected core momentum into the national energy transformation, opened a new pattern for its own development, and demonstrated the global competitiveness of China's intelligent manufacturing.

In addition, Far East has successfully completed nuclear power projects including Chashma Nuclear Power Plant in Pakistan, Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant, Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Plant, Fujian Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant, and Jiangsu Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant.

Being the "Invisible Guardian" for Nuclear Power Going Global

At present, the global energy revolution is accelerating: the International Energy Agency predicts that the global nuclear fusion market will reach 496.55 billion US dollars by 2030; China's annual investment in nuclear power exceeds 100 billion yuan, and new technologies such as fourth-generation nuclear power and small modular reactors (SMR) are continuously implemented.

From the "sun-chasing dream" of nuclear fusion to the "global layout" of nuclear power, Far East has witnessed the transformation of China's energy equipment from "independent control" to "global leadership" through the "hardcore evolution" of a single special cable. In this revolution concerning the future of human energy, this "champion enterprise" in a segmented field is building a solid foundation for China's energy security with invisible and solid strength, and contributing a "China's intelligent manufacturing" solution to the global energy transformation.
