The Africa Energy & Power Exhibition and Solar Expo — East Africa‘s largest and most professional energy event — recently concluded in Nairobi, Kenya. Xinhua News captured the presence of Chinese companies empowering Africa’s green transition, with Far East featuring prominently as a representative of China‘s cable industry.

Kenya is actively pursuing its “Universal Access to Electricity by 2030” goal. In December 2025, the country’s peak electricity demand surpassed 2,439 MW, hitting a new record high. As East Africa‘s energy hub, Kenya’s grid expansion and rural electrification are accelerating — presenting a prime market opportunity for Far East‘s localized operations.

Targeting this market window, Far East showcased a full portfolio of power and renewable energy cable solutions tailored for East Africa’s high-temperature and dusty climate, including photovoltaic cables, energy storage cables, and high- and low-voltage transmission and distribution cables — precisely addressing the region‘s urgent demand for highly durable and reliable power equipment.

Notably, Far East has already established its Kenya branch. The team has secured deep cooperation with Kenya Power (KPLC) and the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO), and is jointly advancing several key projects, including the Nairobi substation expansion and the 132kV substation in Kitui County.

Leveraging the green cooperation framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, Far East is aligning its East African localized operations with the region’s grid upgrade and rural electrification efforts. With its comprehensive new energy capabilities, Far East provides end-to-end support — from products to systems — for East Africa‘s energy transition, serving as a practical example of China’s smart manufacturing contributing to global green development.
